This site is about the scientific activities of the VOXEL-MAN project at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. It is centered on our vision of the virtual body – a self-explanatory digital copy of the human body based on medical imaging, which can be examined and treated in a similar way. It led to pioneering applications for diagnostics and surgery planning, 3D atlases of anatomy and radiology, and finally virtual simulators for surgery, dentistry and endoscopy.
