Anatomy and X-Ray Images of the Torso

The 3D model of the torso and internal organs of the Visible Human makes it possible to simulate various examinations of the thorax and abdomen. Based on the local attenuation coefficients from CT, synthetic X-ray images can be computed in a 360 degree view.

Besides the skeleton and the larger muscles, the liver is also clearly visible in the radiograph. In addition, idividual organs can be highlighted. In this animation, the heart is colored in red, and the kidneys in green.
